The Power of One More

Do you understand the incredible power of "one more." Just ONE more..... This simple phrase can be a game-changer in our lives, propelling us toward achievement or holding us back through procrastination. The choice is ours, and with God's strength, we have the power to make the right one.

Procrastination

Let’s start by acknowledging the flip side of "one more." How many times have we said, "I'll do it tomorrow," "Just one more episode," or "I'll start after one more break"? These seemingly small decisions add up, creating a pattern of procrastination that steals our time and potential.

Proverbs 6:9-11 warns us about the dangers of procrastination: "How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man." Procrastination is a thief. It robs us of our goals, our dreams, and our purpose. Every time we choose "one more" excuse, we delay the progress we are capable of making. But here's the good news: recognizing this pattern is the first step to breaking it.

Achievement

Now, let's flip the script. Imagine harnessing the power of "one more" to fuel your achievements. One more hour of studying, one more lap around the track, one more act of kindness, one more step toward your dream. These small, incremental efforts can create monumental change.

Galatians 6:9 encourages us, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Think about the athletes who push through one more rep, the students who read one more chapter, or the professionals who work one more hour on their project. These are the people who achieve greatness, not because they made one big leap, but because they committed to one more step every day.

Give it to God

Now, I want to remind you of an even greater source of strength: God. Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This is not just a nice idea; it's a promise. With God's strength, you can push through your limits. When you feel like giving up, remember that you have divine power to keep going.

Isaiah 40:29-31 reassures us, "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Think about the story of David and Goliath. David, a young shepherd boy, faced a giant with just a slingshot and his faith in God. He didn't back down; he took one more step forward. With God's strength, he achieved the impossible. That same strength is available to you.

Applying the Power of One More

So, how can we apply this in our daily lives?

  1. Identify Your Goals: What do you want to achieve? Be clear about your goals and dreams. Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."
  2. Break It Down: Understand that big achievements are made up of small steps. Break down your goals into manageable tasks. Psalm 37:23 reminds us, "The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him."
  3. Commit to One More: Every day, commit to doing one more thing that moves you closer to your goal. One more page, one more call, one more minute of prayer. 2 Timothy 4:7 encourages us, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
  4. Rely on God's Strength: When you feel weak or discouraged, remember that God is your strength. Pray for His guidance and power to keep going. Isaiah 41:10 promises, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
  5. Celebrate Progress: Acknowledge and celebrate each step you take. Every "one more" is a victory on your path to achievement. Psalm 126:3 declares, "The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy."

The power of "one more" can change your life. It can take you from procrastination to achievement, from doubt to confidence, from weakness to strength. And remember, with God, you have the strength to keep going.

Today, I challenge you to harness the power of "one more." Don't let procrastination hold you back. Instead, let each "one more" be a step toward your dreams, knowing that God is with you every step of the way. Together, let's achieve greatness, one more step at a time. Thank you, and God bless.
